Here is Tyler Cowen in cartoon form.
At lunch, at our table we were talking about the question of why redistributive policies are not more popular with voters. Brink Lindsey said that voters prefer to affiliate with successful people than unsuccessful people. He said that they choose on the basis of the people they sympathize with. To which Tyler Cowen replied, “People vote on the basis of who they sympathize against.”
I wanted to blog that line.
